Is This Your Child?

When "just try harder" stops working.

If you recognise your child in several of these, and it has been going on for months across home and school, it is worth getting support.

At home

  • Simple instructions need repeating five times, and still do not get done.
  • Homework that should take 20 minutes takes the whole evening.
  • Big emotions arrive fast: tears, shouting, slammed doors, then regret.
  • Siblings, screens and bedtime are a constant source of conflict.
  • You feel like you are always correcting, and your child feels it too.

At school

  • Teachers say your child is capable but careless, distracted or disruptive.
  • Notebooks are incomplete, things are lost, deadlines are missed.
  • Your child blurts out answers, interrupts or struggles to wait their turn.
  • Friendships are hard, or your child is often in trouble at break time.
  • Marks do not reflect what your child actually knows.
What Works

What is the best therapy for a child with ADHD?

For most children, the best-supported starting point is behavioural parent training combined with behaviour therapy for the child. Paediatric guidelines, including those of the American Academy of Pediatrics, recommend parent training as the first treatment for preschool children, and behaviour therapy alongside medication and school support for school-age children. Our role is to make that practical for your family.

👪Core

Parent training

Weekly sessions that teach you specific, research-based tools: effective instructions, praise that works, reward charts that do not fizzle out, and calm, predictable consequences.

🧒Child

Behaviour therapy for your child

Age-appropriate sessions on emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, impulse control, organisation and social skills, using play, games and real-life practice.

🏫School

Working with school

Practical strategies you can share with teachers, such as seating, task chunking and check-ins, so home and school use the same approach.

🩺Medical

Psychiatrist review, if needed

If difficulties stay significant, we coordinate a psychiatrist consultation so medication can be considered as part of one joined-up plan.

By Age

How ADHD therapy changes as your child grows.

🧸Under 6

Preschool children

Mostly parent-led. You learn the strategies, and we coach you as you use them at home. Short, playful sessions with your child where helpful.

🎒6 to 12

School-age children

A mix of child sessions and parent sessions: emotional regulation, homework routines, organisation, friendships and working with school.

🎧13 to 18

Teenagers

More individual work: planning, study habits, motivation, screen use and emotional regulation, with regular family sessions. See also therapy for teenagers.

Getting Started

Your first session.

The first session is usually with parents only, online or at our clinic in Sector 70, Gurugram. You do not need a diagnosis to start. If your child has not been assessed, we may suggest an ADHD assessment for children first, so therapy targets the right things.

  1. We hear your story. What a typical day looks like, where things break down, and what you have already tried.
  2. We look at the bigger picture. Development, school reports, sleep, screens, and anything else that might be adding to the difficulties.
  3. We pick two or three goals. Concrete ones, like smoother mornings or finishing homework without a fight.
  4. You leave with a first strategy. Something specific to try at home this week.
Questions

Questions parents usually ask.

What therapy is best for a child with ADHD?
For most children, the best-supported starting point is behavioural parent training combined with behaviour therapy for the child. Paediatric guidelines, including those of the American Academy of Pediatrics, recommend parent training in behaviour management as the first treatment for preschoolers, and behaviour therapy alongside medication and school support for school-age children. The right mix depends on your child's age, how severe the difficulties are, and what else is going on.
How can I help my child with ADHD without medication?
Structured routines, clear and immediate rewards, calm consistent consequences, breaking tasks into small steps, regular exercise and good sleep all help. Parent training teaches you to use these consistently. For many children with milder ADHD this is enough; if difficulties stay significant, a psychiatrist review is worth considering.
How do I discipline a child with ADHD?
Focus on catching good behaviour and praising it specifically, give one short instruction at a time, use immediate small rewards rather than distant ones, and keep consequences brief, calm and predictable. Long lectures and harsh punishment tend to backfire. Parent training sessions help you build a plan that fits your child.
Does behaviour therapy work for kids with ADHD?
Yes. Behaviour therapy and parent training are among the best-researched treatments for childhood ADHD. They improve behaviour, family relationships and parental confidence, and the skills keep working after sessions end. They work best when parents and, where possible, teachers use the same approach.
Do parents need to attend ADHD therapy sessions?
Yes, especially for younger children. Much of the change happens at home, so parents are an active part of treatment. Some sessions are with the child, some with parents only, and some together. For teenagers the balance shifts towards individual sessions with regular family check-ins.
Does my child need an ADHD assessment before therapy?
Not always, but it helps. An assessment shows whether ADHD explains the difficulties, rules out look-alikes such as learning difficulties, anxiety or sleep problems, and points therapy at the right targets. If you are unsure, we can talk it through in a first consultation.
Can ADHD therapy for children be done online?
Parent training works very well online. Teenagers usually do well online too. For younger children, direct sessions are often better in person, which we offer at our clinic in Sector 70, Gurugram.
