A learning disability assessment identifies a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) — a difficulty with reading, writing, or mathematics that is out of step with a child's overall ability. It uses standardised diagnostic tools, most commonly the NIMHANS SLD Battery, to pinpoint exactly where a child struggles and why. The result is a clear diagnosis and a clinical report that explains the difficulty and what would help, so a child can get the right support at school and at home rather than being labelled careless or slow.
