TL;DR

  • Being transgender or non-binary is not a mental illness. Therapy here supports you; it doesn't question who you are.
  • We help with gender exploration, dysphoria, family, coming out, work, relationships, anxiety and low mood.
  • You don't need a label or a plan to start. Questioning is welcome.
  • We offer affirmative counselling only. We do not provide assessments or letters for hormone therapy or surgery.
  • If you are in danger, call 112. For support, call iCall on 9152987821.

What Is Trans and Non-Binary Affirmative Therapy?

It is therapy where your gender identity is treated as real and valid from the first session. Your therapist uses the name and pronouns you ask for, doesn't make you justify or prove your identity, and focuses on what you came for. That might be gender itself, or it might be the stress, family conflict, anxiety or loneliness that so often comes with being trans or non-binary in India.

Many trans and non-binary people have had to educate a therapist, or have felt their gender treated as the cause of every difficulty. Affirmative therapy doesn't work that way. Your gender is part of who you are, and sessions start from that.

Is This You?

  • You've known for a long time that the gender you were assigned doesn't fit, and it's getting harder to ignore.
  • You're questioning your gender and want to explore it without pressure either way.
  • Dysphoria is affecting your sleep, your mood or how you show up at work or college.
  • You want to come out to family, or you already have and it didn't go well.
  • You're socially transitioning and dealing with misgendering, stares or questions.
  • You're non-binary and tired of explaining yourself to people who don't get it.

What We Help With

  • Gender exploration — a safe space to understand your feelings about gender, at your pace, with no outcome pushed on you.
  • Gender dysphoria — coping with the distress of a mismatch between your body or how others see you and who you are.
  • Coming out and family — deciding whether, when and how to tell people, and handling reactions. See coming-out support.
  • Social transition — name, pronouns, clothing and presentation, and the emotions that come with each step.
  • Minority stress — the toll of misgendering, discrimination, harassment and having to stay on guard.
  • Work and college — being out (or not) at work, dealing with HR, colleagues and classmates.
  • Relationships and dating — partners, intimacy, and finding people who see you clearly.
  • Anxiety, depression and trauma — support for the mental-health difficulties that often build up alongside stigma or rejection.

What We Don't Offer: Assessments and Letters for HRT or Surgery

Coach For Mind does not provide assessments or letters for hormone therapy (HRT) or gender-affirming surgery. We offer affirmative counselling and psychotherapy. If you need an assessment or letter, we can point you towards services that provide them, and you're welcome to continue therapy with us alongside that process.

We say this upfront so you don't have to find out in a first session. Therapy with us is never a gatekeeping step or a test you need to pass.

What Science and Indian Law Say

Being transgender is not a mental disorder: the WHO removed it from its mental-disorders chapter in ICD-11. In the 2014 NALSA judgment, India's Supreme Court recognised every person's right to self-identify their gender, including as a third gender. The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 prohibits discrimination against transgender people in education, employment and healthcare. Attempts to change a person's gender identity, often called conversion therapy, are harmful, and India's National Medical Commission treats them as professional misconduct for doctors.

Support for Families

Family acceptance makes a big difference to a trans or non-binary person's wellbeing, and many parents want to support their child but don't know how. We offer separate counselling for parents of LGBTQ children, and family sessions when everyone is ready and with your consent. For trans and non-binary teenagers, we offer teen therapy with a parent or guardian's consent.

Online Across India, or In Person in Gurgaon

You can see us over secure video from anywhere in India or abroad, which many clients prefer for privacy, or in person at our centre in Sector 70, Gurgaon. Sessions are available in English, Hindi and Punjabi.

In NCR, see LGBTQ+ therapy in Gurgaon and Delhi NCR.

What Your First Session Looks Like

  1. Free discovery call — message us on WhatsApp. Tell us the name and pronouns you'd like us to use, and what you'd like help with.
  2. Your first session (50 minutes) — you share what's going on at your own pace. You don't have to explain or defend your identity.
  3. A plan you agree with — your therapist suggests how sessions could help, based on your goals, not theirs.
  4. You decide — there's no obligation to continue, and you can ask to switch therapists if the fit isn't right.

Please Read: Our Commitments, and Emergencies
