How to keep mind healthy and active | Coach for Mind

On my 25th B’day, I am writing these 25 lessons that I have learned over time in this profession. Here are 25 lessons on How to keep mind healthy and active:

#1 If we really want to live life to its fullest potential, we need to understand the difference between pleasure and happiness.

#2 Suppressing or escaping a negative emotion is the worst thing that you can do to your mind.

#3 Having negative thoughts is not the problem, they exist in our brain to make sure our survival. Problem is that we believe our negative thoughts to be true, that is what makes us suffer.

#4 A lot of people who needs psychological help are trying to find solace in spiritual organizations, without understanding that we can only grow spiritually when our mind is sorted.

#5 The day you start taking responsibility (not the blame) for everything that you go through, rather than blaming it on other people or situations, you are bound to live a life worth living.

#6 In order to keep our mind healthy, it is a must to keep our body healthy. Body and mind go hand in hand.

#7 Whether or not we are aware, but what we eat does affect our state of mind. Eat wisely.

#8 Fear of suffering, is one of the biggest cause of human suffering.

#9 Don’t let a day or an incident, define your entire life.

#10 Putting the burden of all your emotional needs on one single relationship is not the wisest thing to do. It can eventually become unhealthy for that relationship.

#11 Your self-image (how you see yourself as a person) defines the quality of your actions and relationships.

#12 Healthy self-esteem is one of the most important tools needed to succeed in the outer world. And the good news is healthy self-esteem can be worked upon.

#13 We can work on our conscious mind using self-help books and motivation, but unless the subconscious mind is worked upon, nothing much will change.

#14 Depression and Anxiety problems are very common in our society, it’s just that most people have “That’s the way I am” mentality.

#15 We must enjoy the positive emotions and we must learn from the negative ones. No emotion is bad, they just have different roles to play in our lives.

#16 Unless your core psychological beliefs are worked upon, any sort of meditation practice would only give you temporary relief.

#17 Having a good support system is crucial for a healthy mind. This support system can include friends, family members, teachers or mentors.

#18 Yoga, meditation, and physical exercise are good for mental health, but they won’t address the root cause of the negative thoughts and emotions that you go through.

#19 Almost half of the physical illnesses are related to your state of mind.

#20 Our family and relationships can be the best or the worst part of our lives. It all depends on how much we learn about managing relationships. Sad truth is that no education system teaches us about maintaining healthy relationships.

#21 Writing down your thoughts in a diary helps a lot to sort out our mind.

#22 Sustained feeling of guilt or regret can be very poisonous to one’s mental health. It should be cleared out of the system as soon as possible.

#23 We are trained to look for happiness by achieving our goals, but this training can lead us to a miserable life if we don’t realize that achieving goals is one part of life, not the life itself.

#24 When we deal with our problems on our own, they might feel like a huge burden. But with the right professional help these so-called “Huge Problems” can be sorted within a few months.

#25 Last but not the least, a lot of people want to take professional help for their psychological problems but either they are afraid of the stigma attached to mental health or they keep postponing for some reason or the other.
