Is This You?

  • You can explain a work problem perfectly in English, but when you talk about your mother, the words come out in Hindi.
  • You searched for a Hindi- or Punjabi-speaking therapist where you live and found long waitlists, or no one at all.
  • Some things — sharam, izzat, log kya kahenge — lose their weight in translation.
  • You'd like your parents to talk to someone, but they'd only open up in Punjabi or Hindi.
  • You're tired of translating your feelings before you can feel them.

Why Therapy in Your First Language Helps

Therapy in your first language can make it easier to reach and name emotions, because feelings are often stored in the language you first experienced them in. For many NRIs, speaking Hindi or Punjabi in therapy means less translating and more feeling — especially when talking about parents, childhood, marriage and family.

Many people who move abroad find they think in one language and feel in another. A therapist who speaks Hindi or Punjabi can follow you when you switch mid-sentence, catch the meaning behind a phrase, and understand the family and cultural context it comes from. What You Can Get Help With

  • Anxiety and low mood — worry, overthinking, panic and feeling flat. See anxiety therapy.
  • Family and parent relationships — guilt, duty, boundaries, and caring for ageing parents from far away.
  • Marriage and couples issues — including sessions where each partner uses a different language. See NRI marriage counselling.
  • Loneliness and identity after moving abroad — feeling between two cultures and fully at home in neither.
  • Grief — losing someone back home, especially when you couldn't be there.
  • Trauma — past experiences that still shape how you feel. See trauma therapy.

Languages and Timings

Sessions are available in Hindi, Punjabi and English, and you can mix languages freely. Our therapists offer early-morning and late-night IST sessions as well as daytime slots, so clients in the US, Canada, UK, Gulf and Australia can usually find a time outside work. Every booking is confirmed in your local time.

When you contact us, tell us which language you'd prefer, and we'll match you with a psychologist who works in it. In the USA? See online therapy for Indians in the USA.

What Your First Session Looks Like

  1. Free discovery call — message us on WhatsApp with your country, time zone and preferred language. We listen to what's going on and match you with a psychologist suited to your concern.
  2. Your first session (50 minutes, secure video) — we talk about what brought you here, what you'd like to change, and what has and hasn't helped before. You don't have to share everything at once.
  3. A plan you understand — by the end you'll know the approach your psychologist suggests (for example CBT, trauma-focused work or couples work) and roughly how often to meet.
  4. You decide — there's no obligation to continue, and you can switch therapists if the fit isn't right.
